In the spring of 2004, Reimer shot himself. As a "Brenda" now learned that "she" had come as a boy into the world, had been forced to undergo a sex change. When "she" was seven years old, "she" was resistant and was told "she" should go to Money at age 14, "she" threatened them with suicide, after which "her" parents finally revealed "her" the awful truth. The experiment was, however, out of control: Even as a small child getting ripped "Brenda," as Bruce has now called, ripped off "her" clothes and gave girls' toys a wide berth. In 1967 Money suggested that a sex change be performed on a almost two year old boy Bruce Reimer (later David Reimer after Bruce's penis had previously been accidentally mutilated as a result of a botched circumcision.
Money was one of the first to try to scientifically prove that gender was only learned he was one of the pioneers of gender theory.
